Save the date!

We are now gearing up to the annual St Stephens Summer Fayre which is being held on Fri 28th June from 3.00pm -5.30pm

As always we need the support of parents both before and on the day itself. I've included a list of all the things we need help with in the hope that you will be able to assist or talk to your parent friends and see if they can help.

In brief we need the following:

* Face painters

* People to call local businesses for raffle prizes and sponsorship

* Green fingered gardeners who can donate plants

* Bakers

Cooks who can supply food for the fayre

And of course about one thousand people to run stalls on the day for an hour at a time.  If you have any skills that you think could help raise money for the school please do contact me. We have lots of ideas but there are always new and exciting things that we haven't thought about.

Other ideas could be things like:

* Musicians

* Entertainers

* Photographers

* Art activities

If anyone knows a local celebrity who can open the fair this would be helpful. Please give me your inspiration!

Any ideas or offers of help please contact Sue Flory

The Christmas Gift Shop last year was very popular, with many of you grabbing some great bargains!  New stock is collected each week so it's definitely worth paying us a visit again with Easter fast approaching.

We need volunteers on the day to help set up the store (from 1.30pm) which will be inside school, in the Ground Floor Lunch Room.  We also hope to be selling cakes and healthy snacks on the Wednesday, so need donations so you can bake something sweet or make a savoury or healthy snack for us to sell, it's up to you!

Remember, all the money raised helps replenish the School Fund which benefits all the children equally, so please get in touch if you can help in any way.

Wednesday 14th October

Bags can be brought to school from Monday 12th October

The school receives 35p per kilo, so the more bags we receive; the more money we raise for the school!   A minimum of 40 bags are required for a collection so it’s vital that as many  families as possible ‘phil’ a bag, so we are able to reach this target*

How to ‘phil’ a bag:
      Find a plastic bag; any will do or even use a pillow case!
 ‘Phil’ it with all kinds of adult and childrens’ clothing, hats, shoes, belts, handbags, and household textiles including sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, curtains and towels – all items must be in a clean, useable condition.

Not to be included:
Blankets, Bric-a-Brac, Duvets, Pillows, Sleeping Bags, Rugs, Carpet, Offcuts of fabric, any WET items, Tent Canvas, ripped or stained clothing

*Should you have bags ‘philled’ but no means of getting them to school, please email the Forum, who may be able to arrange a collection.*

Ice Cream Sale

Monday 14th July - 3.15pm - Playground

Monday was a glorious day full of sunshine, so the perfect conditions for an ice cream sale; certainly preferable to the rainy Friday!  Apologies to those children who were unable to buy an ice cream or lolly as we completely sold out, we understand, however, that there will be frozen treats available on Fun Day - Friday 18th July.

The ice cream sale raised a further £37.90 to add to our Summer Fayre total.
Thank you everyone!

Summer Fayre 2014

We would just like to say a huge thank you to all those who contributed in some way to our annual Summer Fayre held on Saturday 28th June.   We are especially grateful to all those who stuck it out in the rain, staff members for giving up their Saturday and Fr Philip Corbett and Mr Newman for their sessions in the stocks.

Despite the rain, our families all came out to have a fun day!  The Cafe was especially busy when the heaven's opened but thankfully, due to the delicious cakes donated by parents, everyone could come inside, have a hot drink and dry off!

We're pleased to let you know that we raised a total of £1,990.11 for the school so a big well done to all involved!

PRIZE DRAW RAFFLE WINNERS

For the last month, parent volunteers have been selling raffle tickets in the playground before and after school and at St Stephen's Church too.  If you bought a ticket, and were not at the Fayre when the prize draw took place, see the document at the foot of the page for a list of all the winners.  We had a last minute 11th Prize of a Pamper Hamper which was won by none other than Fr Philip Corbett!

Guess the weight of the cake

Historically, a member of the Leech family have always guessed, to the nearest ounce, the weight of the cake baked by Marcia Palmer. This year, history repeated itself yet again!  The cake weighed exactly 6lb and Hannah's was the closest guess at 6lb 5oz, so another win for the Leech family

Beat the Goalie

At the Fayre this year, the football cage was turned over to Futsal@Jam who ran football skills and training for the children.  There was also Beat the Goalie where children attempted shots at goal.  If you were skilful enough to Beat the Goalie your name was entered into a draw to win some great prizes including a Complimentary Day at Futsal@Jam Spy Camp and a signed, framed photo of the Millwall FC squad. A couple of St Stephen's ex pupils were winners as well as two Year 6 pupils; Akin and Max.
