We will be holding a TIGER Spring Sale in the afternoon of Wednesday 16th March and the morning of Thursday 17th March which we hope you will attend.

As many of you will know, the TIGER store in Lewisham kindly donates their excess stock to our school, which we are then able to sell to raise money for our School Fund.

The Christmas Gift Shop last year was very popular, with many of you grabbing some great bargains!  New stock is collected each week so it's definitely worth paying us a visit again with Easter fast approaching.

We need volunteers on the day to help set up the store (from 1.30pm) which will be inside school, in the Ground Floor Lunch Room.  We also hope to be selling cakes and healthy snacks on the Wednesday, so need donations so you can bake something sweet or make a savoury or healthy snack for us to sell, it's up to you!

Remember, all the money raised helps replenish the School Fund which benefits all the children equally, so please get in touch if you can help in any way.

Summer Fayre 2014

We would just like to say a huge thank you to all those who contributed in some way to our annual Summer Fayre held on Saturday 28th June.   We are especially grateful to all those who stuck it out in the rain, staff members for giving up their Saturday and Fr Philip Corbett and Mr Newman for their sessions in the stocks.

Despite the rain, our families all came out to have a fun day!  The Cafe was especially busy when the heaven's opened but thankfully, due to the delicious cakes donated by parents, everyone could come inside, have a hot drink and dry off!

We're pleased to let you know that we raised a total of £1,990.11 for the school so a big well done to all involved!

PRIZE DRAW RAFFLE WINNERS

For the last month, parent volunteers have been selling raffle tickets in the playground before and after school and at St Stephen's Church too.  If you bought a ticket, and were not at the Fayre when the prize draw took place, see the document at the foot of the page for a list of all the winners.  We had a last minute 11th Prize of a Pamper Hamper which was won by none other than Fr Philip Corbett!

Guess the weight of the cake

Historically, a member of the Leech family have always guessed, to the nearest ounce, the weight of the cake baked by Marcia Palmer. This year, history repeated itself yet again!  The cake weighed exactly 6lb and Hannah's was the closest guess at 6lb 5oz, so another win for the Leech family

Beat the Goalie

At the Fayre this year, the football cage was turned over to Futsal@Jam who ran football skills and training for the children.  There was also Beat the Goalie where children attempted shots at goal.  If you were skilful enough to Beat the Goalie your name was entered into a draw to win some great prizes including a Complimentary Day at Futsal@Jam Spy Camp and a signed, framed photo of the Millwall FC squad. A couple of St Stephen's ex pupils were winners as well as two Year 6 pupils; Akin and Max.

Bauble Sale 2013

Doesn't the tree look amazing?  The Christmas Bauble sale was a hit with the children and managed to raise £75.00 for the school.

Monday 2nd December - Friday 6th December

To celebrate the first week in Advent we will be holding a Bauble Sale in the playground, before and after school.  For just 50p, your child can personalise a coloured bauble of their choice with their name using special pens.  The bauble will then be placed on the SPF Christmas Tree located in the Foyer, just outside Miss Holland's office.  At the end of term, the bauble will be returned to your child for you to enjoy on your own tree, or just to have as a keepsake.

Discount for multiple purchases; 3 baubles for £1.00.  Please note that only one bauble for each child will be placed on the tree.  Your child is welcome to decorate more than one bauble which they can take away immediately.  All proceeds of the sale go to the school fund.

More about the Forum....

The St. Stephen’s Parent Forum is a group of parent/carer class representatives who will meet at least once a term to discuss school related issues. However, any parent/carer of St. Stephen’s is entitled and indeed welcome to attend Forum meetings.

Meetings are to be informal and a genuine opportunity for open discussion. Members of staff such as our head teacher, deputy head or one of the Governors will attend as appropriate.

The objective of the Parent Forum is to promote the partnership between the school, its pupils and the parents/carers. This can be done through engaging in discussion and activities which help support the education and welfare of the pupils. The Forum wants to help fundraise for the school and organise various social events, including our ever popular Summer Fayre.

Parents/carers may ask a class representative to present an idea or make a suggestion on their behalf at the Parent Forum. Please note that all issues should be of a general nature and not related to a specific child or incident. Specific concerns about a child should be discussed with the class teachers and/or head teacher in accordance with school procedure.

Class Representatives are encouraged to share information from the Parent Forum with parents/carers of other children in their child’s class. It is envisaged that this is done by email or face to face. Relevant feedback will be distributed in newsletters and any meeting agendas and notes will also be published on the Parent Forum tab on the school’s website.

The guiding principles are as follows:

  • to support the school, respect and listen to all views and to adopt a positive approach, focussing on constructive help and feedback;
  • to organise social events and fundraise for the school;
  • to have at least one parent/carer representing each class to give a range of views across year groups;
  • that any parent/carer can volunteer to be a class representative and where there are gaps in year groups, the Forum will invite individual parents/carers to join;
  • that members of the Parent Forum are expected to remain on the Forum for a minimum of one academic year;
  • that a Chair and Secretary (who will both be parents/carers of existing pupils at the school) of the Forum will be agreed by the Parent Forum members at the first meeting and thereafter on an annual basis; and
  • that the Parent Forum shall report to the Governing Body once each year on its activities.

Prayer meetings are held every Tuesday morning at 9.00am and Coffee mornings are held every Thursday morning in the Welcome room. A selection of beverages are available and babies and toddlers are very welcome. Do come along and join us and meet other parents.

Miss Holland attends our Coffee Mornings each month, we will soon be publishing the dates for the Spring Term online as well as on the noticeboards and on the sandwich board in the playground.

You can also email us at ststephensparentforum@gmail.com if you would like to find out more about us or have any queries.
