  • Home Learning

Why do we encourage home learning?

At St Stephen's C of E Primary School, we believe home learning strengthens the partnership between school and home. It helps pupils practise key skills, develop independence and build confidence in their learning.

Through our vision of Rooted. Empowered. Serve., we encourage every child to become a successful, lifelong learner.

    What is expected?

Each year group is set age appropriate home learning that supports classroom learning.

    This may include:

    • Daily reading

    • English activities

    • Mathematics activities

    • Spelling or phonics practice

    • Times Tables practice (where appropriate)

    • Optional curriculum enrichment tasks

Teachers may also provide additional home learning where appropriate.

    Reading at Home

Reading regularly at home is one of the best ways to support your child's learning. We encourage all pupils to read frequently and share books with an adult whenever possible.

    Online Learning

To support learning at home, pupils may be asked to use:

    • Times Tables Rock Stars

    • Numbots

    Curriculum Enrichment

Optional enrichment activities may be set throughout the year to encourage pupils to explore their learning creatively and share their achievements.

    Working Together

A strong partnership between home and school helps every child to flourish. We thank parents and carers for their continued support with home learning.
