Every member of our school family can stand as spiritual, confident, positive individuals, rooted in Christian values, empowered to face life’s challenges and reach their full potential and serve their community.

Weekly Update 11.5.20

Dear Parents,

Last night the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, told us that we might see the phased return of pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1st June. St Stephen’s will be putting a plan in place for a phased return once we have received clear guidance from the government and Lewisham Education Authority. Our main aim will be to ensure the safety and protection of our pupils and staff. We will keep you informed over the next two weeks of any plans once we have received further guidance.

In the meantime, we will work together to ensure our St Stephen’s family can continue to support each other and keep going. Please do contact the school if you need help with accessing the work on the website or support in any other way.

There has been some confusion over who is entitled to food vouchers. Unfortunately, even if your child normally gets a free school meal (universal free school meals for KS1 pupils) you will only get the food vouchers if you are entitled to free school meals through Pupil Premium funding. So, if you think you are eligible please apply now! The school will benefit financially if all those eligible apply. Once your application goes through you will start receiving vouchers from the government voucher scheme. Information on how to apply is available on the link below.

God bless,

Miss Holland

Collective Worship

At Stephen’s we always emphasise that whilst we are all different we are part of one family, God’s family. We may be different, but He loves us all the same. No one is more or less worthy of His love and care. It is important at this time that we join as one body to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We were very grateful last week when members of the local church community provided food parcels and craft packs to our school family. Even though we did not know them, they thought about St Stephen’s and other local schools. This week, it would be good for us all to think about how we can help those in our community in some way. If you have a need, please do let us know so we can help you.

Romans 12v5 says: In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

The link below is a song based on this verse. Have a listen and think about our school family. We may all be different but we are the same in God’s eyes.
