School Journey UPDATE

Monday 22nd January 2018

Year 5 have arrived safely. They have two activities for the morning; swimming and unpacking!!

A fantastic first afternoon. First we went for a ‘Splash n Dash’ in the swimming pool and then we had a very muddy walk in the woods. After dinner, which is sausages and mash, we’re going to have a bonfire. Make sure you check the school’s twitter account (@ststephens_ce) for all the latest updates and photos.

Tuesday 23rd January 2018 - Day 2

After some sleep Year 5 had another fantastic day...

  • 5A learned survival techniques during a bush craft session then completed the high ropes course. Then after lunch they played some team games in the gym and went swimming.
  • 5B spent the morning at the Guildhall Museum and visited Rochester Castle. Then after lunch they went for a swim and then to the woods where they did some shelter building- Bear Grylls style!

In the evening both classes came together for a wonderful story telling session before going to bed.

Be sure to keep eye on the school's twitter feed (@ststephens_ce) for photos and updates throughout the day.

The pancakes for today's breakfast were definitely a winner and a great way to start the day. It was another busy one with lots going on...

In the evening the children had the opportunity to relax and read and chat or if they had the energy take part in the Y5 talent show!

Thursday 25th January 2018 - Day 4

Day 4 got of to a wonderful start with bacon and waffles for breakfast before another action packed day....

  • It was 5As turn to spend the morning at the Guildhall Museum and visit Rochester Castle. Then after lunch they went for a swim and had their turn in the woods to do some shelter building. One group built a lovely 3 bed semi with an ensuite and are currently looking for tenants- enquire within.
  • 5B started the day with a swim then spent the rest of the day working around a carousel of various activities that included, climbing, team building games and archery with several children now claiming to be the next Katniss Everdeen and ready for the Hunger Games...

With DJ 'Big' Mac on the wheels of steel everyone came together for a disco in the evening. Lots of the children seemed to keep their jackets on insisting that 'Mans not hot'!!!

Friday 26th January 2018 - Day 5

Before breakfast everyone cleared their rooms and packed their bags. The morning was then spent rocket building and orienteering.

It really has been a wonderful week. It has been a joy to watch the children as they have shown perseverance, resilience and teamwork this week. We are extremely proud of them all.
